Boy killed after video display board falls at Brevard County elementary school

A 6-year-old boy died Wednesday after a video monitor fell on him at a Brevard County elementary school, according to the school district.The boy was attending Riviera Elementary School in Palm Bay. According to Brevard Public Schools officials, the boy suffered serious injuries after a “large video display board” fell. Emergency crews were called to the school just after 11:30 a.m.The boy was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center, but he did not survive.Palm Bay police said this appears to be an accident, but the special victims and major case units were also investigating.Brevard Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell said he has already met with the child’s family, and asked the community to pray for them.“I’ve been doing this for over 30 years,” Rendell said. “And I really couldn’t find the words to share with them my grief, the grief that all of us have.
