GRAND FORKS — Sue and Duane Hafner have been regulars at UND fan luncheons for decades. Sue enrolled at the university in 1970. The Hafners, both from small towns in North Dakota, quickly became fixtures at Fighting Sioux sporting events. Sue graduated in 1974, but the Hafners continued to support UND athletics. They both eventually became presidents of the UND Boosters Board, which has put on the fan luncheons since the 1970s. It has remained a can't-miss event for the couple to this day. "We come all the time," Sue said. "The only time we miss is if we're out of town. ... When they started having these, it was just a good idea to get to know the coaches and other people who went to things. It's just fun to see what's going on."
